Pastor Bill Kaembo pictured with his wife Julie will oversee the Revival Outreach And Rivers (ROAR) ministry on the North Fly river in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea.
Dear Friends, Greetings from the North Fly region of PNG, as the Ok Tedi strike comes to an end, and the weather in the Star Mountains makes transition from sunshine and thunderstorms, to the drizzle of winter. It has been a joy to host Papa (Ps.) Cyril Westbrook and AOG Southern Region Superintendent, Ps. Joseph Pandu for two weeks of ministry and encouragement over Easter.
Jehovah Jireh Through strikes and strange weather, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has proven himself time and again, to be Jehovah Jireh, our provider. As we journey according to God’s will, it is a joy to pray knowing that he will provide, even though we don’t know how. For example, even sickness or pain can be God’s way of provision. A boil on Mike’s arm prevented a rivers trip with our visitors (daily dressing required), but by the time Easter was upon us, it was very apparent that the Easter Convention was more than enough to cope with. God knows our need. He even provided a Landcruiser from the local MP (who attended the convention) to finally get the Tulait2 mission boat out of the river after 2 months of waiting for a ministry circuit. A recent reading of the story of the Feeding of the Five Thousand (Jn 6:13) brought new insights. From my cultural context, I had always assumed that Jesus was avoiding littering, and had the disciples pick up the rubbish. But no, 12When they were all full, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces left over; let us not waste any.” 13So they gathered them all up and filled twelve baskets with the pieces left over from the five barley loaves which the people had eaten. So the disciples got 12 baskets of food, and got fed too! And as we serve the Lord Jesus Christ as his disciples, it is wonderful to know that he will provide from the “left-overs” of his miracles.
Easter Convention Approx. 80 people were blessed with fellowship and a focus on Easter (the death and resurrection of Jesus) and on the principles of Nation building found in the 10 commandments (Marriage, Parenting, Authority and Property). From Ningerim, Matkomnai, Kwem (great to have a strong presence from down river), Kiunga and Tabubil fellowships, mostly local believers received good inspiring teaching from Ps. Joe, Ps. Ben, Ps. Bill and Ps. Cyril. Mike took 2 day sessions on principles of nation building, while sister Maureen Kuri had been given free reign to develop a teaching on Christian Parenting. And it was an excellent, comprehensive presentation with biblical content, and tuned to the PNG family life.
Praise God for: • Wonderful fellowship and an expression of the body of Christ working in harmony as we successfully completed our first AOG Easter Convention. • Praise God for his Word, a framework for life, a light to our path, and a template for nation building. • Praise God for wonderful fathers in the faith, in Ps. Cyril and Ps. Joe. • Praise God for his provision as Jehovah Jirah, always meeting our needs, and blessing us with the ‘left-overs’ from his miracles.
Thank you for your prayers for: • Fathers in the faith, who can train up other fathers to build up God’s people to maturity • Ps. Cyril Westbrook, as he continues to minister in encouragement and oversight of pastoral leadership in the AOG PNG. • Guidance in the ministry of PNG ROAR, as we lose the Hilux and also use of the TCF Landcruiser (to be sold). The Mistubishi Canter is now at the rear of the Morey household awaiting rebuild, and a Landcruiser awaits transfer to PNG in January 2011 (in Oz), but we will need the Lord’s miraculous intervention to use the Tulait2 for the remainder of 2010. • Wisdom and strategies for undertaking the development of a fellowship at Kaiko and Neogamban. • Please continue to pray for anointed wisdom in developing appropriate strategies for regular rivers ministry circuits. The current ‘long weekend’ approach seems to have a lot of potential. Shalom.
